    Our famous sticky chai recipe (the first in the UK!) is made in small batches, using freshly ground spices, Indian Assam Tea & wildflower honey.

    Our Original Sticky Chai is a perfect balance of spices, including cardamom, ginger & cinnamon, all blended together to create a rich, deep flavour. We love to infuse our sticky chais on the hob in oat milk but they can also be enjoyed steeped in hot water using a Brewdini or even cold brewed!     While our Original Blend contains caffeine, we have lots of delicious rooibos blends which are caffeine-free, check out the full range here!

    The history of Sticky Chai

    ☕ What Is Sticky Chai?

    Sticky Chai is a modern take on traditional Indian masala chai. It combines tea leaves, spices & honey into a thick, sticky blend that's easy to brew & packed with flavour.

    📜 Where It All Started

    Masala chai has been enjoyed in India for centuries. It's brewed with black tea, milk, & spices like cardamom and ginger. Sticky Chai, however, is a much more recent invention.

    🌏 A Modern Invention

    Sticky Chai emerged in the early 2000s in Australia, where baristas wanted a chai that was more authentic than powders or syrup. Mixing spices & tea with honey created a ready to use blend that locked in flavour and aroma.

    🍯 The UK’s First Sticky Chai

    Bird & Blend introduced the UK’s first Sticky Chai. Using eight spices & wildflower honey, the recipe quickly became a fan favourite & even won a Great Taste Award!

    Since then, we’ve expanded the range with seasonal and limited-edition blends inspired by our most loved teas.

    How to make sticky chai

    How to make a hot sticky chai

      Step 1

      2 tea spoons (or 1 heaped tea spoon) to 1 cup of milk.

      Heat with milk on stove or pop in the microwave

      Strain out in your fave mug with an infuser/ strainer.

      Sprinkle with cinnamon, cocoa powder or nutmeg!

    How to make iced sticky chai

      2 tea spoons (or one heaped spoon) of chosen sticky chai flavour

      Step 2

      Add to your Brewdini or strainer of choice, top with water & steep for 4 minutes.

      Once brewed pop into a fridge or pour into a cocktail shaker with ice & shake, shake, shake!

      Add sticky chai to a glass, add cold milk & sprinkle with nutmeg or cinnamon!

    Tea Mixologist Top Tip

    Heat two heaped tsp of sticky chai in one cup of milk (any milk will work) on the stove, stirring whilst it heats up. Or pop in the microwave for 2 mins - be careful not to burn!

    Easy to make chai

    "I love this - it's spicy, sweet, and so easy to make. I made mine with oat milk and it infused beautifully. If I make black chai I generally add a sugar cube, but no additional sweetness was needed with this as it's all infused into the sticky chai. It's quite close to the chai I love from Dishoom, but with little to no preparation. Also my entire kitchen smelled amazing for about an hour afterwards!"

    Good, but just tea

    "Really nice pot, really good delivery, but not strong enough spices for my personal taste. No matter how much of the sticky chai I put into my cup to brew it with, or what combination of water and milk I used, it still just tasted like tea with no spices. Just black tea. Nice black tea, but still just tea and I couldn't taste any spices at all. Smelt amazing when I opened the jar though!"

    Where does the honey you use come from?

    How are the refills packaged?
    Hi Kim, Thank you so much for your question! Our Sticky Chai Refills are packaged in pouches exactly the same as our loose leaf tea . They are completely compostable and made from paper and plants like eucalyptus and corn starch! I hope this helps :) Yours Brew-ly, Marlie @ B&B
