Our NEW Classic Chai loose leaf tea is perfect for those who are looking for the traditional taste of an authentic chai. It brings together a blend of chai spices including cardamom, ginger, cinnamon & star anise with full-bodied black tea to create a rich, deep flavour.

In a classic B&B twist, we've blended both traditional Assam black tea & the brightest, most flavourful of teas from Rwanda into this blend -  so it tastes good, looks good & does good too. The tea is carefully sourced from Rutsiro, a garden we are proudly working with to support impact projects that transform lives in the local community. By choosing Classic Chai, you are helping to fund vital projects for Rwandan tea pluckers, their families & young children.

Classic Chai is the newest member of our family of chais. Its base was inspired by our best-selling Original Sticky Chai, which is a Great Taste Award winner!

    A perfect Chai!

"Honestly, this is my new favourite tea! It's exactly the right balance of spices and not too sweet (which I find a lot of chai to be) would definitely recomend - I've been drinking as a hot tea with just a dash of milk"

Nice blend but a bit heavy on the fennel

"Might just be personal taste but this blend is super fennel heavy. I fished out a few and blended with Cambridge Classics for a vanillay chai latte."

If you want the basics done well, give this a chai!

"The below review was written for my blog, but I felt it might be helpful for folks to read here too! Classic Chai is the latest offering from B&B. Word on the street is that while folks loved their flavoured chai blends, fans were also after something a little more standard in the spiced world. I was told in store that this has "every chai spice you could want", and looking at the ingredients list, I can't disagree. 1 teaspoon of Classic Chai 1 sweetener and a splash of oat milk Brewed at 100°C for about 4 minutes Smell: 9/10 - Well crumbs, they weren't wrong! Every spice has just left the bag and provided a delicious assault on my senses. It's very clear right now that ginger and cardamom are the stars of the show for the moment, and it's providing a surprisingly sweet edge to this blend. I usually associate spices with being a little dry, very earthy, almost savoury, but somehow we've gone the other way here. I'm almost reminded a little of Salted Caramel Lebkuchen (one of my favourite blends) for how prominent the ginger is, but also how sweet it smells. Not quite what I was expecting, but no complaints here! I almost corrected myself and lamented the lack of the earthy rich side that you'd expect from a chai, but lo and behold, it truly delivers when brewing. Whether I didn't get a balanced spoon or things are just showing up a little different here, we're full of deep rich spices all of a sudden, with fennel and possibly the coriander making a bit of an appearance. Taste: 10/10 - I take back anything negative I said. I mean, I don't think there was much, but I take it back anyway. This is exquisite, and I have no hesitation giving this a perfect score on taste. I'm somewhat struggling to break down what I'm tasting here, I can just offer the word "spice". I suppose that's what you'd expect from a chai, but still, let's try digging into that a little more. We know from past experience that cardamom struggles a bit from the smell to the taste, starting off very strong and then sometimes disappearing completely. Somehow, the balance has worked itself out here and we've got a nice hint of perfume at the end of the deeper spices. The ginger has calmed itself down a little, but is still present at the start. It feels like it's twinning well with the fennel and perhaps the black pepper as well, to quieten it down away from the unexpected sweetness and back to where a chai should arguably sit. Overall: 9/10 - Well this was a roller coaster! From an unexpected sweet initial smell, to added savoury spices, to finally finishing with a really quite well balanced cup. For my own personal tastes, I'd have probably wanted a little more ginger in the finish, but honestly enough chai teas exist to give me that nice hit when I want it, and this does exactly what it says on the tin of offering you a very well rounded spiced cuppa. If you want the basics done very well, I'd recommend giving this a chai!"
